Dairy Herd Manager

An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced Dairy Herd Manager on our client's large scale dairy enterprise situated near Cohuna in North West Victoria. (8km's to township of Cohuna  – 12km’s Leitchville – school bus at front gate).

 

Job Description

 

The successful applicant must have large herd experience.  Be honest, reliable and self-motivated with a progressive attitude who is able to ensure milk quality, all herd nutrition and animal welfare standards are met. An AI Certificate would also be an advantage, but not essential.

 

You will work under the Farm Operations Manager as well as independently and therefore must have the initiative to make decisions when required, as well as in a team environment.  Excellent knowledge of animal health, herd management, breeding programs and cow nutrition who enjoys working with livestock is paramount.

 

Farm Description

 

This farm is predominately pasture based with mixed rations and consists of some 200 hectares.

Milking 500-600 cows – Autumn/Spring calving pattern

50 unit rotary shed with cup removers and individual feed system

 

Duties will include

  • Management of daily milk harvesting / mastitis control / treatments
  • Management of all herd health / nutrition / record keeping / computer system
  • Maintaining milk quality and assurance
  • Management of cow reproduction and AI programs
  • Monitoring of procedures and functions in dairy
  • Monitor calving cows
  • Maintaining a clean and tidy dairy at all times

An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced Dairy Herd Manager or Couple on our client's family owned and operated large scale dairy enterprise located at Bamawm in Northern Victoria. (10km’s Lockington – 12km’s Rochester – 20km’s to Echuca).

 

This position offers a long term arrangement with an option to progress to share farming / asset building in the foreseeable future.

600 cow herd – milking in 50 unit rotary, auto ID, auto draft,  ACR’s.

Calving 5  times per year.

 

Duties will include

  • Maintaining Milk Quality and Assurance
  • Cow reproduction and AI programs
  • Monitoring of Procedures and Functions
  • Leading Team of Staff
  • Management of all livestock including replacements
  • Responsible for feed delivery to stock
  • General dairy clean-up and maintenance

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Dairy Herd Manager on our client's progressive large scale dairy enterprise located at Katunga in Northern Victoria. (20km's Numurkah - 25km's Cobram - 1/2 hr to City of Greater Shepparton).

 

This position would suit a person with a passion for milking cows and all aspects of herd health/management. You will be responsible for all dairy operations.  This role is for a professional that will run the business as if it was their own, as there is opportunity to build an asset and wealth.

 

As this is a highly developed 700-800 cow dairy farm with a rotary dairy, the business has quality equipment including a substantial feed pad and feeding infrastructure - but the business focus is on home grown feed production.

 

Our client is keen to transit from their current hands-on role and will provide training and coaching to the right applicant.
