Job Description:

2 x experienced and professional Milking / Shift Supervisors are required to join our client’s progressive, large scale corporate dairy enterprise situated at Mooroopna in Northern Victoria (10 mins to township – 15 mins to Shepparton).

 

This modern entity, which strives for excellence in cow health, nutrition and production, consists of some 1,800 ha – currently milking 2,000 cows - operates a full TMR system with undercover freestall barn – a newly constructed compost barn which holds 1,000 cows – and a fully automated 50 stand rotary dairy.

 

Employment Specifics

The successful applicants must have previous experience in a similar role with exceptional organisational skills and ability to operate as a team leader. Ideally you will have:

  • Previous experience in the dairy industry with excellent knowledge and skills in herd health / husbandry
  • Commitment to high animal welfare standards
  • Exceptional organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Good communication skills to liaise between management and other staff
  • AI experience preferred
  • Milk harvesting skills
  • Integral knowledge of works of dairy plant
  • A workplace safety focus
  • Experience in developing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures;
  • Good time management, confidence and attention to detail qualities.

 

Duties will include, but not limited to

  • Responsible for overseeing and managing all facets of the milking shed, including leading a team of dairy operators (5 crew milkers)
  • Monitoring and management of herd health
  • Milking and mastitis control
  • To ensure the optimum milk production and quality by applying the best practices
  • Monitoring of procedures and functions
  • Ensuring high standards of shed cleanliness are maintained
  • Be able to fill-in / cover crew members on their shift break (when needed)
