Experienced Tractor / Machinery Operator

A position has become available for a suitably qualified and experienced Tractor and Machinery Operator on our client’s family owned and operated well-established dairy farming enterprise ideally located near the township of Cobram on the banks of the Murray River in Northern Victoria (10 mins to township of Cobram).


Key Employment Specifics


Operating a mixer-wagon / feed pad system 365 days of the year – this position would suit someone with high standards and attention to detail qualities.  You must also enjoy working with animals and have an interest in dairy farming – being capable of assisting with milking and other farm tasks, as required.

The successful applicant MUST be meticulous with machinery and therefore have excellent skills and knowledge associated with same, as well as mechanical aptitude.

You will work under the direction of the Owner and must be reliable, efficient and self-motivated. Ideally you will have:

  • Previous experience in operation and maintenance of tractors, machinery including mixer wagons
  • Commitment to high animal welfare standards
  • Excellent work ethics, good communication skills with attention to detail
  • Must be capable of following precise instructions
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as unsupervised;
  • A workplace safety focus
  • Good time management, confidence and attention to detail qualities.


Duties will include, but not limited to

  • Responsible for carrying out all the feeding requirements on farm
  • Responsible for accurate mixing of feed rations – as instructed
  • Responsible for tractor operation and feeding out
  • Pushing feed up to troughs – maintaining clean & tidy surrounds at all times
  • Reporting intake and loss of daily feed rations
  • Cleaning and maintenance of associated machinery & implements
  • Mowing / front-end loader work / associated paddock work
  • Assisting with milking (when required)
  • General farming practices
