About the Position

 

A unique opportunity has become available for a highly skilled, efficient & self-motived Dairy Farming Couple on our client’s dairy operation ideally located in Northern Victoria with close proximity to Shepparton CBD which offers excellent schooling, retail, fine dining & outdoor leisure facilities).  Just over a 2hr drive to Melbourne CBD.

 

Our client is seeking a competent couple to manage the herd and all associated day to day herd health aspects including young stock management.  Experience in all facets of dairy farming with proven herd management history is essential. High standards of work and animal welfare ethics are targeted through attention to detail.

 

Key Specifics / Requirements

  • To be considered for this role, you will have:-
  • High level skill set to manage the day to day operations of a 200 cow herd;
  • To achieve optimum quality milk production within seasonal constraints;
  • Excellent work, time management and animal welfare ethics with attention to detail;

Role Responsibility

  • Milk harvesting – fully automated herringbone dairy
  • Herd health and management
  • Mastitis control / treatments / record keeping
  • Maintaining milk quality and assurance
  • AI and Joining programs
  • Calving down cows / post calving monitoring and management
  • Calf rearing
  • Feeding out to stock
  • General farming practices

DAIRY FARM MANAGEMENT COUPLE

About the Position

 

An excellent opportunity has become available for a suitably qualified and professional “working” Dairy Farm Manager and/or Couple on our client’s 300 cow dairy farming operation ideally located at Lancaster in Northern Victoria (5 mins - Kyabram township which offers excellent schooling, shopping and all modern facilities.  School bus route servicing all schools including Shepparton on bitumen road).

 

This well-established dairy farm consisting of some 400 acres is predominately pasture based with partial TMR - split calving system.  There is a 26 swing over herringbone dairy with ACR’s.  The farm is well laid out and fully irrigated with the owner having permanent water available.  Replacement heifers are reared on a nearby out-block.

 

Our client is looking for an experienced and competent person or couple to manage the day to day operations of the farming enterprise.  Experience in all facets of dairy farming operations together with proven herd management history is essential.

 

Key Specifics / Purpose of Position

 

As ‘hands on’ Farm Manager - this position will suit a highly skilled, self-motivated and progressive individual who is focused on quality control and the production of a superior product.  You MUST have superior pasture management skills. You will continue to grow and pursue excellence in all facets of the day to day farming operation :-

  • To effect the overall management of the dairy farm operations, in consultation with the Owners;
  • To maximise the return from the Dairy operation while maintaining a safe environment, optimal animal health and farm infrastructure in good working order;
  • To achieve optimum quality milk production within seasonal constraints;
  • Excellent work, time management and animal welfare ethics
  • Extensive knowledge & experience with irrigation / pastures / nutrition
  • To manage grazing, feeding, fertilizer and irrigation to optimise pasture production / utilization;
