About the Position


A fantastic and unique opportunity has become available for a ‘Contract Management Team’ (two people) milking 280 cows ideally located at Maffra in the Macalister Irrigation District – Gippsland.


Our client’s progressive and well-established farming entity offers modern infrastructure and improvements to include 16 aside swing over herringbone dairy shed with ACR’s, well laid out paddocks (flood irrigation), very good 3 bedroom brick home on farm. Close to all services which offer excellent schooling, sporting, shopping and outdoor leisure activities.


Some machinery is required, with a provision allowance, milk quality and production bonuses also incorporated in the package.



Key Role Responsibilities


As ‘hands on’ Farm Manager - this position will suit a self-motivated and progressive management team who are focused on quality control and the production of a superior product. You will continue to grow and pursue excellence in all facets of the day to day farming operation.


Having the desire to be part of a great team, supported by the current Farm Owner with autonomy in the full day to day decision making and running of the farming operation to include:-

  • Milking and maintaining a high standard of milk quality and assurance / dairy hygiene
  • Fully conversant with modern dairy farming techniques, including herd management, OH&S protocols / procedures and all associated animal husbandry & welfare practices
  • Overseeing farm labour / staff supervision / roster systems
  • Demonstrate exceptional organisational skills / have the ability to work independently
  • Pasture management / Irrigation management
  • Maintaining accurate stock records / Mistro computer software
  • General farm maintenance

An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced and professional full time Dairy Farm Manager or Couple (1.5 to 2 labour units) on our client’s dairy farm enterprise situated near Terang in South West Victoria (15 mins Mortlake - 30 mins to Warrnambool).


The farm is pasture based and consists of some 880 acres. Milking up to 550 cows in a 50 unit rotary shed equipped with ACR’s, retention bars and computer system.


The successful applicant must be highly skilled and self-motivated with a progressive attitude and demonstrate excellent work/management ethics. You must have at least 5 years previous experience within the dairy industry. Formal qualifications showing progression within the industry is preferred, however, not essential.


Reporting to the Farm Owner and working under his direction, you will be responsible for the day to day “hands-on” running of the dairy enterprise including:-

  • Management of milking herd / dry stock / young stock
  • Management of current staff and rosters
  • Management of herd health and health records
  • Maintain Milk Quality and Assurance
  • Mastitis detection and all associated treatments
  • Assisting with calving cows and post-calving health maintenance
  • Herd health / heat detection / reproduction monitoring and management
  • Pasture Management / Irrigation / Paddock rotation
  • Calf & heifer rearing
  • Nutrition and Supplement Feeding
  • All other general dairy farming practices

Our client offers:-

  • Excellent Remuneration Package $100k-$140k depending on labour inputs 1.5-2 full time labour units (Contractor)

A position has become available for an experienced and competent 2IC / Manager or  Dairy Couple to join our client’s progressive dairy farming operation ideally located on the Far South Coast at "Beautiful Bodalla" in New South Wales.  An excellent location situated close to the coastal beaches and schools which offer all sporting and leisure activities (work / life balance lifestyle).


The position on offer would suit an experienced Individual and/or Couple with a high level skill set’ - who are passionate about the dairy and agricultural industry and wishing to pursue a long-term career in the dairy sector.  Previous experience in the industry would be an advantage and also an interest in genetics.


Employment Specifics


You will work under the direction of the Farm Owner and have a support team of farm/business consultants.  Therefore a willingness to work and learn in a team environment is most essential.  You will ideally:-

  • Be punctual, reliable and honest – these are a MUST
  • Use initiative / right attitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work / milk in a safe manner with attention to detail
  • Must be able to work under precise instruction / follow tasks as allocated
  • Be able to work in a strong team environment

  • Demonstrate a clean & tidy appearance at all times


Duties will include, but not limited to:-

  • Assisting with milk harvesting –  300 high producing Holstein cows in 20 unit swing over dairy shed
  • Herd health / heat detection
  • Mastitis control / treatments
  • Maintaining milk quality and assurance
  • Dairy clean-up and maintenance
  • Following procedures and protocols
  • General dairy farming practices (weed control / fencing)
