Glen Eden Holsteins has a current position available for a Dairy Farm Assistant, who is honest, reliable, physically fit and who possesses great communication skills to become part of their dedicated team.

 

Our client’s large scale 1,000 cow high performance dairy farming enterprise is situated ideally in the Hunter Valley district – less than 5 km to the township of Muswellbrook.

 

Key Specifics

  • Experience with large herd (800+) essential
  • Willingness to work on a roster system which includes am / pm milking
  • Excellent knowledge of herd health / animal welfare ethics
  • Competent with Tractor operation / mechanical aptitude
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
  • Current Driver’s Licence with reliable transport is essential

Duties to include, but not limited to

  • Daily milk harvesting – 60 stand rotary dairy
  • Livestock management
  • Feeding stock
  • Tractor & farm machinery operation
  • Fencing / general farming duties

Dairy Farm Assistant

As our client is coming into the busiest time of year on their dairy farming operation, with calving season, hay, silage & harvest all to take effect, they are seeking to employ a self-motivated, efficient and reliable full time Dairy Farm Assistant for their established 350 cow operation located at Girgarre in Northern Victoria (15 mins Kyabram / 30 mins Echuca).

 

Employment Specifics

 

As you will be working under the direction of the owner, experience is preferred, but not essential.  Training, guidance & support will be offered to the successful applicant, however, you must be enthusiastic and have a willingness to learn.  Ideally you will have:-

  • Genuine interest in the dairy industry who enjoys working with cows and outdoors
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as unsupervised
  • Sound knowledge with milk harvesting & animal health
  • Self-starter who is highly motivated, efficient and committed
  • Excellent work and communication skills – attention to detail
  • Ability to operate tractors and machinery (would be an advantage)
  • Current Driver’s Licence with reliable vehicle

 

Duties will include

  • Daily Milk harvesting
  • Herd Health / mastitis control / treatments
  • Assisting with calving down cows / collection of cows & calves
  • Feeding out to stock
  • Droving of milking herd / stock work
  • Tractor work (depending on experience)
  • General dairy clean-up / maintenance work / general farming duties
