Senior Dairy - Herd Manager Position

House on Farm – Immediate Start – Long Term Opportunity

 

An opportunity has become available for an efficient and self-motivated Senior Dairy Operator – Herd Manager on our client’s 450 cow dairy share farming operation ideally located near Ulverstone in Tasmania (20 mins to township – which offers all modern facilities).

 

The successful applicant will work with the share farmers in sharing work commitments and have the responsibility of implementing procedures to ensure a profitable dairy business operation.  Experience in all facets of farming is paramount including herd management. You will therefore have:-

 

-          previous dairy experience – all aspects of farming operations.

-          excellent knowledge of herd health management skills

-          high standards of work & animal welfare ethics with attention to detail

-          tractor competency – repairs and maintenance knowledge an advantage

-          ability to work in a team environment as well as independently

-          excellent communication and time management skills

Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:-


-        milk harvesting – 20 aside herringbone with ACR’s

-        Herd health / mastitis control / treatments / record keeping

-        Maintaining milk quality and assurance

-        Pasture rotation and Irrigation

-        Plant equipment and infrastructure maintenance

-        Tractor operation and maintenance

-        Weed control / general farming practices
