Our client is currently seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Dairy Herd Production Manager to become part of a dedicated team on their large scale 700 cow dairy operation located only 10 minutes North of the City of Shepparton. (8km’s to township & school – 10 minutes to major city of Shepparton which offers excellent modern facilities / sporting and lifestyle opportunities).

 

As ‘hands-on’ Dairy Herd Production Manager, you will continue to grow and pursue excellence in all facets of the day to day milk harvesting and herd health operations of the farm business. Previous experience at this level is paramount. The successful applicant must be highly skilled, dedicated and self- motivated with a progressive attitude and demonstrate excellent work/management/animal welfare ethics.

 

Employment Specifics

The successful applicant must have the following:-

  • Large herd management experience
  • Skills in dairy reproduction and health, including AI programs
  • Excellent knowledge and skills in herd health and nutrition
  • Self-starter who is highly motivated, efficient and committed
  • Experience in supervision of staff and ability to work as a team leader
  • Exceptional communication and organisational skills – attention to detail
  • Integral knowledge of works of dairy plant and operations

 

Role Responsibilities will include – but not limited to

 

As the overall Dairy Production Manager and reporting directly to the owner, you will -

  • Management of daily milk harvesting
  • Management of Herd Health / Nutrition / Record Keeping
  • Maintaining Milk Quality and Assurance
  • Cow reproduction and AI programs
  • Monitoring of Procedures and Functions
  • Leading Team of Staff
  • General dairy clean-up and maintenance

Dairy Cattle Large Herd Manager

Our client is currently seeking an experienced and suitably qualified Large Herd Manager for their 700 dairy cow well-established enterprise situated at Woolsthorpe in South West Victoria (school bus at front gate / excellent schooling, sporting, modern facilities / close to beaches which offer all outdoor and leisure activities).

 

Employment Specifics (to be considered for this role)

The successful applicant must have :

  • A Bachelor Degree or Higher plus 2 years of relevant work experience; or
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Previous large herd experience and daily farming operations
  • Quality Assurance Reporting

 

You will also have acquired:

  • Exceptional organisation / communication / time management skills
  • Excellent knowledge of milk harvesting / herd health & management
  • Preg. Testing and AI skills 
  • Good stock working skills / animal welfare ethics
  • Be highly self-motivated with a progressive attitude
  • Ability to work within a strong team environment as well as independently
  • Demonstrate a neat and tidy appearance with attention to detail 

Role Responsibilities – Duties will include – but not limited to

  • Daily management of the milking herd – milk harvesting (60 unit computerised rotary shed)
  • Monitor a high standard of shed hygiene & cleanliness
  • Monitor & maintain milk quality and assurance to ensure optimum milk production and quality control protocols
  • Monitor all aspects of herd health / liaise with Vet, if necessary
  • Assisting with AI / reproduction programs / record keeping
  • Monitoring of procedures and functions in dairy
  • Droving of herd / stock work / vaccination programs
  • Basic pasture / paddock rotation management
