About the Position

 

An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced & professional Dairy Herd Team Leader to join our expanding and progressive 1,500 year-round calving herd in inland Northern NSW.

 

This modern enterprise strives for excellence in cow health and production and boasts state-of-the art feeding, reproductive and rumen health monitoring infrastructure with a modern computerised 60 stand rotary dairy with a fully automated herd management system.

 

Reporting directly to the Farm Operations Manager, the role requires you to be “hands-on” with the milking, breeding, herd health, computer use, calving, dairy plant hygiene & maintenance.

 

Working as a senior team member, you will be required to function and lead the dairy team to ensure all herd health, milk production and quality targets are met and adhered to.

 

To be considered for this role, you MUST meet the following criteria:

 

  • Minimum 3-5 years full time dairy experience, showing progression through the industry;
  • AI Certificate (essential);
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of all herd health and animal husbandry/welfare practices;
  • A high level of competency & knowledge of milk harvesting & udder hygiene;
  • Knowledge & experience with the workings of a dairy plant & associated equipment;
  • A team leader & player with excellent organisational, attention to detail, time management and communication skills;
  • Highly self-motivated, strive for accuracy, and have the ability to exercise independent thinking and judgment;
  • Identify & implement priority tasks with ability to problem solve;
  • Ability to continue and perform well under pressure or in stressful circumstances;
  • Commitment to work within the boundaries of what is a reasonable industry expectation
  • Current Driver’s Licence with reliable transport;

 

Our client offers:

  • Remuneration package negotiable (based on competency) to include a VG 3 bedroom family home with a/c, lock-up double garage/carport in a fully fenced yard on farm;  
  • Flexible fortnight roster system comprising of 5 on / 2 off (50 hour week);
  • Full or part time milking and calf rearing work available for partner/family;
  • Excellent Scenic Location 45 mins NW of Tamworth. 10 mins from Manilla. School bus close to farm.
